All Tolkien Projects Coming in 2024

Hey all! As we have entered 2024, we have new and exciting things to look forward to. It actually had been quiet times for us Tolkien fans since after the Hobbit movies, but times have been changing since the Rings of Power started airing. Studios and right-holders seem to start realizing the potential Tolkien projects hold, and a big franchise that they can cash on, more than how it is now. Well, this is good news for us as the demanders.

Rings of Power had been keeping us entertained but you can never get enough of Middle Earth, especially when we have different mediums that can we can take advantage of, like gaming! The possibilities are endless now that the computers are super fast and all but well, you need passion for what you do too, as we’ve seen with the Gollum game. These new projects seem promising though, and we will be analyzing everything!

Shows and Movies

The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power

First and foremost, let’s start with the Rings of Power season two. We have been covering news about season two for a while now, including our exclusive leaks. And things seem to be going well! The show is even green-lit for a season three, so it seems Amazon is happy with the demand. The general consensus with season one seem to be that there are many points they can improve upon, and from the interviews and leaks we can tell that they’re taking things in account. Season two is expected to air late 2024, and we can’t wait to see what they’re brewing!

The Lord of the Rings: The War of the Rohirrim

Even though it was announced in June 2021, with some postponements we will see the War of Rohirrim on the big screen in December 13 2024! Produced by Warner Bros, this prequel will take place 250 years before the Battle of Helm’s Deep, and focus on “telling the life and bloodsoaked times of its founder, Helm Hammerhand, the King of Rohan.” Read our report on the details on the preview that was shown here!

New Movies

Last but hopefully not the least, we have Warner Bros Discovery and New Line Studios making a pact to produce more movies adapted from the books. Now, the possibilites are endless and actually valiable if done right. Individual movies about each characters past life, or focusing on different major events. We can only guess for now, but it is encouraging to hear that these studios are back in the game to enrich the franchise.

“Tales of the Shire”

Tales of the Shire

Now, onto the games. We haven’t been very lucky in the games department recently, unlike back in the early 2000s (read on the history of LOTR games here). But, oh man. They’re making a chill, cozy game based on the Shire! I just can’t express how excited I am, and I know many people are in this with me, because imagine doing cozy farming stuff in the Shire! A joined venture by Weta Workshop and Private Divison, Tales of the Shire promises to be the new Animal Crossing. Just kidding, I added that there, but it better be!

The Lord of the Rings Online is a great MMO, and it still looks cool. But let’s be real, we can use an another entry to the genre. It is an amazing game and has captivated a following since its release in 2007, but it has been years and new mechanics have been introduced to MMOs since then that we could use. That’s where the new MMO gets in, well it doesn’t have a name yet, but we know that it’s being developed by Amazon Games and has the blessing of Middle Earth Enterprises. So we might see familiar stuff around the game! Hope it goes well for the sake of our community and the MMO community too!

Well, this seems to be all for now. You never know what’s waiting around the corner, but don’t worry, we’ll find out and report on it! Hope we enjoy what’s to come together. Thanks for reading and let us know of your thoughts!
