The Lord of the Rings: The Tales of Middle- earth Potential Future Plans (Exclusive)

The world of Middle- earth and the ‘LOTR’ franchise is ever evolving and growing and we have even more updates, this time from Embracer who own the movie rights to the ‘LOTR’ and ‘The Hobbit’ and are currently leasing the theatrical film rights to WB in a new found partnership.

However, we can exclusively reveal that Middle- earth Enterprises in the last months have trademarked ‘The Lord of the Rings: Tales of Middle- earth’ franchise for “movies featuring fantasy stories and fantasy characters delivered by viewing on a big screen, television…” and much more!

The evidence and proof of this trademark is shown below and this ‘Tales of Middle- earth’ is in the same continuity/ related to the recent Magic: The Gathering card games. Though it is not fully confirmed, if anything was further explored by Embracer in regards to the ‘Tales of Middle-earth’ franchise, then it would make sense that future games or even streaming movies would be in the same style, art or even continuity.

This further shows as we previously reported that movie rights are non- exclusive to Warner Brothers and this has been trademarked solely by MEE/ Embracer. But that doesn’t mean that MEE can’t still go to WB, Amazon or someone else to work with another party on this.

Context:

If any movies were to be made it is understood that they would most likely be streaming movies as though the new WB deal is non- exclusive, they still have the sole rights and abilities for theatrical movies.

The trademark also makes reference to possible theme parks and live musical performances and virtual reality games. But this is probably just standard procedure by MEE/ Embracer which most companies do where they trademark most avenues and possibilities. However, the main area of interest is around the possibility of games and ‘multiplayer games’ alongside “featuring non- downloadable continuing movies featuring fantasy stories and fantasy characters delivered by viewing on a big screen, television, satellite, portable electrical devices or the internet.”

In conclusion, what does this mean for the immediate and long term future. Well, as of right now all this shows is that Middle- earth enterprises (Embracer) may see a potential future within the ‘Tales of Middle- earth’ franchise beyond just trading card games. However, it is important to note that no movies or games have been confirmed, greenlit or even fully decided as of yet. But, this trademark does at least show that Middle- earth Enterprises has the intent, ability and capabilities of branching out into doing streaming movies or even games based on the ‘Tales of Middle- earth.
