D23 2026: The Biggest Disney and Pixar announcements
With D23 2026 now behind us, Disney fans have plenty to look forward to over the next few years.
Across a packed weekend of panels and presentations, Disney unveiled new trailers, release dates, casting announcements and first looks spanning Disney+, Walt Disney Animation Studios, Pixar and its live-action slate. From Percy Jackson and the Olympians Season 3 and Kingdom Hearts to Tangled, Hexed, Incredibles 3 and Frozen 3, here are some of the biggest announcements from D23 2026.
Percy Jackson Season 3 takes on The Titan’s Curse
Percy Jackson and the Olympians Season 3 received a major spotlight at D23, with a new teaser and further glimpses at the upcoming adaptation of The Titan’s Curse.
The Titan’s Curse is the third novel in Rick Riordan’s original Percy Jackson and the Olympians series. The story expands the world beyond Camp Half-Blood by introducing the Hunters of Artemis and placing Percy, Thalia, Grover and others on a rescue mission after Annabeth and the goddess Artemis go missing.
The official teaser debuted during the Disney Entertainment Showcase before being released online, previewing Percy’s next quest following Annabeth’s sudden disappearance and the growing threat posed by Kronos. Walker Scobell was joined during the presentation by Ming-Na Wen and Andra Day, who portray Hera and Athena respectively.
Further material from Season 3 was subsequently presented during a dedicated Percy Jackson and the Olympians panel on August 15, offering fans new glimpses at the characters and mythology at the centre of the upcoming season.

Kingdom Hearts IV adds Coco World as new anime series is announced
The world of Coco is coming to Kingdom Hearts IV. Kingdom Hearts is a long-running action role-playing series that combines original characters and storylines with worlds and characters from Disney and Pixar films. A new trailer released during D23 revealed that Sora will travel to the Land of the Dead, where he joins Miguel and Héctor in battle against the Heartless. Kingdom Hearts IV is currently scheduled to arrive in late 2027.
Disney also announced Kingdom Hearts, a new original anime series coming to Disney Channel and Disney+. Developed in partnership with franchise creator Tetsuya Nomura and Square Enix, the series will reimagine the adventure through a brand-new story expanding the wider Kingdom Hearts universe. A release date and further production details for the series have not yet been announced.
Live-Action Tangled sets March 2028 release date and reveals first look
Disney’s live-action adaptation of Tangled will arrive in theatres on March 31, 2028.
The release date was announced during the Disney Entertainment Showcase, where attendees were shown a behind-the-scenes look from the upcoming adaptation. The footage offered the first official look at Teagan Croft as Rapunzel, complete with her extraordinarily long blonde hair, alongside Milo Manheim as Flynn Rider and Kathryn Hahn as Mother Gothel.
Hahn appeared onstage to discuss playing the film’s villain, while Croft and Manheim contributed through a recorded message from Spain, where filming is underway. Directed by Michael Gracey, the film will retell the story of Disney’s 2010 animated feature.
Hexed Introduces a new world of Disney magic
Walt Disney Animation Studios’ upcoming original film Hexed received a new spotlight at D23, with further footage and characters from the magical adventure showcased throughout the event.
The presentation offered another look at Beef Roger Crummchuk, a three-eyed magical cat who becomes an unlikely mentor to Billie during her journey through the witch realm of Hexe. Jodie Foster was also revealed as the voice of Queen Celeste, the film’s antagonist, while additional artwork and characters from the world were displayed during D23.

Hexed follows Billie, voiced by Hailee Steinfeld, an impulsive and unconventional teenager who discovers that the qualities which make her different are connected to secret magical abilities. After being transported from suburbia into Hexe, Billie must team up with her cautious mother Alice, voiced by Rashida Jones, as they uncover family mysteries that could change the world of witches forever.
Hexed arrives in US cinemas on November 25, 2026.
Incredibles 3 puts the Parr children centre stage
The Parr family is preparing for another adventure, with Pixar revealing new details about Incredibles 3 during the Disney Entertainment Showcase. Pixar Chief Creative Officer Pete Docter said the film will “round out the trilogy,” with Violet, Dash and Jack-Jack taking on a greater role in the story.
The children will attempt to prove that they are ready to become superheroes by sneaking out at night to protect the city, while keeping Jack-Jack and his unpredictable powers under control continues to prove difficult. Bob Parr will meanwhile face his own struggles as a superhero and encounter a new threat, with Frozone and Edna Mode also confirmed to return.
The first concept art from the film was shown during the presentation. Incredibles 3 arrives in theatres on June 16, 2028.

Coco 2 sends Miguel back to the land of the dead
Disney and Pixar unveiled new details about Coco 2, which will take place several years after the original film. New concept art showed an older Miguel alongside Dante.
Benjamin Bratt appeared during the presentation to confirm his return as Ernesto. The disgraced musician was exposed in the original film as the man who murdered Miguel’s ancestor and stole his songs. He will now seek revenge against Miguel for destroying his career and legacy, sending the teenager on another journey into the Land of the Dead. The sequel will once again place Miguel’s family at the heart of the story. Original director Lee Unkrich and co-director Adrian Molina will return, with Mark Nielsen producing.
Coco 2 is set to arrive in theatres in November 2029.

Frozen 3 teases Anna and Kristoff’s wedding and a powerful new villain
Disney revealed new footage, story details and music from Frozen 3, which will begin with Anna and Kristoff’s wedding before sending the group on another journey beyond Arendelle.
Anna, Elsa, Kristoff, Olaf and Sven will embark on what was described during the presentation as their most dangerous adventure yet. Footage shown exclusively at D23 featured a magical butterfly guiding Elsa towards an aurora that appears to open a portal into a mysterious frozen realm, where the group encounters a shadowy new villain whose powers appear capable of rivalling Elsa’s. Disney Animation subsequently tweeted a sneek peek at some concept art from the film.
Kristen Bell and Idina Menzel also performed a new version of “Frozen Heart,” while Josh Gad debuted “Ooooh, Samantha,” a new song centred around Olaf experiencing his first crush and continuing the “Samantha” joke from Frozen II.
Frozen 3 arrives in theatres on November 24, 2027.
Zootopia 3 will introduce Birds to the animal metropolis
Disney officially announced Zootopia 3 during the Disney Entertainment Showcase, with Walt Disney Animation Studios Chief Creative Officer Jared Bush confirming that the third film is now in early development.
The sequel will expand the animal metropolis once again by introducing birds to the world of Zootopia for the first time. Ginnifer Goodwin, who voices Judy Hopps, joined Bush onstage alongside Ke Huy Quan, who voices Gary De’Snake, a character introduced in Zootopia 2.
Attendees were also shown an exclusive sequence created for the presentation. Further story details and a release date have not yet been announced.
Ice Age: Boiling Point introduces Jurassic Scrat
The Ice Age herd is heading into uncharted territory in Ice Age: Boiling Point.
Queen Latifah and Denis Leary appeared during the Disney Entertainment Showcase to present the next installment in the franchise, which will take Manny, Sid, Diego, Ellie, Buck and the rest of the herd into previously unseen corners of the Lost World.
The dinosaur-and-lava-filled adventure also introduced a new member of Scrat’s family. An exclusive clip shown inside the Honda Center featured Scrat and Baby Scrat encountering their enormous prehistoric relative, Jurassic Scrat.
Ice Age: Boiling Point arrives in theatres on February 5, 2027.
Looking ahead
From returning favourites such as Frozen, The Incredibles and Coco to new stories including Hexed, D23 offered a clearer look at how Disney’s film and streaming slate will take shape over the next several years.
Some projects are only months away, while others will not reach audiences until 2028 or 2029. Taken together, however, the announcements offered plenty for Disney fans to keep on their radar long after the doors closed on D23 2026.
