D23 brought a wave of new announcements, first looks and surprises from across the worlds of Marvel and Star Wars, offering fans a clearer picture of what lies ahead on both the big and small screens.

From the first cast announcements for Marvel Studios’ upcoming X-Men film and a new look at Avengers: Doomsday to the return of Ahsoka and fresh details about Star Wars: Starfighter, D23 delivered a wave of major updates. Here are the biggest Marvel and Star Wars reveals from the event.

VisionQuest Trailer Brings Ultron Back to the MCU

Vision and Ultron are set to come face-to-face once again in Marvel Television’s VisionQuest.

The first publicly released trailer debuted during the Disney Entertainment Showcase, offering another look at James Spader’s return as Ultron.

The series follows Vision as he searches for new meaning while consulting the AI personas embedded within his programming, including Ultron, J.A.R.V.I.S., F.R.I.D.A.Y. and E.D.I.T.H. The show centers on White Vision, a rebuilt version of Vision in WandaVision, who regained the original Vision’s memories but not his emotional connection to them. It will also introduce Ruaridh Mollica as Thomas Shepherd, a mysterious young man who appears to be the reincarnation of Vision and Wanda Maximoff’s son Tommy.

VisionQuest premieres on Disney+ on October 14, 2026.

Marvel Releases Avengers: Doomsday Special Look Online

Marvel Studios also released a new special look at Avengers: Doomsday online following its D23 presentation. The footage had previously been screened exclusively for attendees at San Diego Comic-Con in July and offers a closer look at Robert Downey Jr.’s Victor von Doom alongside heroes from the Avengers, the Fantastic Four and the X-Men. In Marvel Comics, Doctor Doom is the ruler of the fictional nation of Latveria and one of the Fantastic Four’s most enduring enemies, combining scientific genius with mastery of magic.

The film will bring characters from three different universes together as they face an unprecedented existential threat. Avengers: Doomsday arrives in theatres on December 18, 2026.

Marvel Studios Reveals X-Men Cast and May 2028 Release Date

The X-Men are officially heading to the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Marvel Studios announced that its currently untitled X-Men reboot will arrive in theatres on May 5, 2028, while also revealing the first wave of casting.

Sadie Sink will portray Jean Grey, with Kit Connor as Scott Summers/Cyclops, Inde Navarrette as Rogue and Maya Boyd as Ororo Munroe/Storm. Christopher Abbott has been cast as Professor Charles Xavier, while Samara Weaving will portray Emma Frost. The film’s villain has also been revealed, with Adam Driver set to play Nathaniel Milbury/Mister Sinister. He is a longtime X-Men antagonist and geneticist obsessed with mutant evolution, particularly the Summers and Grey bloodlines.

Directed by Jake Schreier, the film will introduce a new generation of mutants to the MCU.

Your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man Season 2 Sets January 2027 Release

D23 also delivered several updates from across the world of Spider-Man during the “All Things Spidey” panel. Your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man Season 2 will arrive on Disney+ in January 2027, with new first-look artwork from the animated series shown during the presentation.

Marvel Studios President Kevin Feige was joined by surprise guest Jacob Batalon, while Spider-Man: Brand New Day star Tom Holland and director Destin Daniel Cretton contributed through recorded messages. The panel also confirmed that Spidey and His Amazing Friends will return for a seventh season featuring an Avengers crossover.

Ahsoka Season 2 Sets January 2027 Release Date and Debuts Trailer

Fans will not have to wait much longer for Ahsoka Tano’s next adventure, with Lucasfilm confirming during D23 that Ahsoka Season 2 will premiere on Disney+ on January 20, 2027.

Season 1 ended with Ahsoka and Sabine stranded on the distant planet Peridea, while Grand Admiral Thrawn successfully returned to the main galaxy, setting up the conflict Season 2 will continue. A new trailer for the season debuted during the Disney Entertainment Showcase before being released online, providing another look at the story following the events of Season 1. The season will also revisit the Clone Wars through a flashback featuring Ahsoka and Anakin Skywalker.

Ryan Gosling’s Star Wars: Starfighter Character Revealed

New details about Shawn Levy’s upcoming Star Wars: Starfighter were also revealed at D23. Ryan Gosling will play Kade Auberon, a cynical rogue whose fate becomes intertwined with what is described as the fastest starfighter ever built.

Set approximately five years after Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker, Starfighter tells a standalone story featuring new characters rather than continuing the Skywalker Saga. Attendees were shown an exclusive sizzle reel featuring the first footage from the film, although the footage has not currently been released online.

Star Wars: Starfighter arrives in theatres on May 28, 2027.
