Jamie Campbell Bower and Eddie Marsan Join the Cast of The Rings of Power Season 3

Yesterday, Middle-earth got a little bit bigger as Variety broke the news that both Jaime Campbell Bower and Eddie Marson have been added to the cast of The Rings of Power season 3. Here’s a rundown of everything you need to know.

Jaime Campbell Bower
Jamie Campbell Bower is a popular actor known for his work in franchises such as Twilight, and more recently, Stranger Things, where he played season 4’s main antagonist: Vecna. While Bower was already a well-known actor before his hallmark role in the hit television show, his performance on Stranger Things solidified him as a legitimate star in the making. He has gained quite the following since that time too, accumulating nearly 4 million followers on Instagram alone.

As for his role in season 3 of The Rings of Power, a report from Deadline confirms our recent scoop of a casting call for a “high-born knight” codenamed Arlen. Bower was the actor cast in that role according to Deadline. The role of this “high-born knight” that Bower will be playing remains a mystery, though scattered hints have led many to assume that the role is that of Celeborn. This is supported by Bower being tapped as a “series regular” according to Deadline, as well as the article mentioning that he could be playing a love interest to Morfydd Clarke’s Galadriel. This is either speculation on the part of Deadline or maybe they know something we don’t. His similar age to Clarke, his look, and his talents, however, lead me to think we have finally found our Teleporno.

Eddie Marsan

Eddie Marsan, the talented actor known for roles in Guy Ritchie’s Sherlock Holmes, Edgar Wright’s The World’s End, and Scorsese’s Gangs of New York, will have a “recurring role” in the show according to Variety. Like with Bower, Marsan’s character remains a mystery, though fans have speculated that he will be playing a Dwarf; more specifically, Durin IV’s brother, who was set up at the end of Season 2 as a possible contender for the throne. Deadline reports Marsan’s character’s codename is Dromm, and that the role required a Scottish accent (compare the recent casting call for two teenagers, speculated to be Durin and Disa’s children), adding weight to the theory he will play a Dwarf. One thing is for sure though: Marsan is highly experienced, so I’m excited to see what he’ll bring to Middle-earth.

Additionally, the Variety article states that principal photography is set to begin “this spring at Shepperton Studios in the U.K.” with the Film & Television Industry Alliance reporting a date of 30th April 2025. This confirms yet another rumor that had been recently circulating around the Fellowship of Fans Discord.

This announcement should be the first of many when it comes to casting for season 3, so all hands on deck as more news should be on the way in the coming weeks.

Ever since I was a kid, The Lord of the Rings, and the rest of Tolkien’s legendarium for that matter, has played a significant role in my life. The tales, characters, and mythos that Tolkien crafted, inspired me to create my own stories of friendship, hope, and loss. It is because of Tolkien, that we can enjoy one of the greatest literary works of all time—and for that, I am immensely grateful.
