Charlotte Brandstrom and Morfydd Clark comments about The Rings of Power Season 2
The last few days have given us some very interesting informations about the second season of The Rings of Power, from two of the show’s greatest protagonists. The first is the swedish director Charlotte Brandstrom, who during an interview with Moviezine revealed some very promising details about the upcoming season. Here are some of his statements.
Charlotte Brandstrom describes the Rings of Power Season 2 as “Grittier and more character driven”
“What I know and can confirm is that it will be darker, and it will be more polished and character-driven. I really think we have some very interesting episodes coming up. I watched them all over Christmas, just the rough cuts. I think it’s going to be a very good season. We tried to make it more gritty, or a little dirtier I guess. And not image-wise, but more to make it as authentic as possible. We have some very surprising twists in it as well”.
This is not the first time that the show’s second season has been described in similar terms, and the reasons are quite clear. Indeed, the first season laid the foundation for what will come from the second onwards, which is why more space was given to the World Building and the presentation of the Second Age kingdoms. In the next season, there will therefore be a development of all the plots, as well as a rate of action and ‘blood’ (those who know the books know why). Sauron’s evil will spread with cruelty and domination, and his kingdom will begin to develop with great force.

Morfydd Clark reveals that in The Rings of Power Season 2 there are “Lots of Villains”
During the BAFTA awards ceremony, ‘our’ Galadriel was interviewed about the second season of The Rings of Power, revealing that it will feature many villains. The british actress said she could not add more, but this statement alone is very important to understand the tone of the second season.
We know that Sauron’s reign will begin to grow in power, and that the Dark Lord will show himself with different faces. We should also not forget Adar, who at the end of the first season “created” the land of Mordor. The fallen elf might also come to terms with Gorthaur himself, and let us not forget the characters of Amelia Kenworthy and Zates Atour, who might turn out to be villains too. Rhun storyline could reveal some interesting surprises on this front, and Numenor will begin to disgorge darkness starting from this season. We are certainly in for a darker, more violent and ‘dirty’ season, as Charlotte Branstrom called it, but at the same time more compelling, richer and ‘spectacular.
